When we hear the word news, usually, we will just ignored it because we think that it will always be about the government, crimes and showbiz news. But there is one newscast aired every evening that makes me hook in front of our television. This is "TEN: The Evening News".
This show is anchored by Martin Andanar, Amelyn Veloso, Jove Francisco and Cheri Mercado. They also have Ed Lingao and Lourd de Veyra as segment reporters. TEN portrays itself as a more contemporary and laid-back program. TEN utilizes a format emphasizing on the 10 most important stories of the day, progressing in significance throughout. The show also uses both English and Filipino languages interchangeably. Before they reach the number one story of the day, they have mini-segments such as Sidetracked, Lifestyle Check and Celebrity Ten Bits.
What makes me watch this show is because they changed their format from the other news being aired. Lifestyle Check and Sidetracked are also segments that is a must to see. Lifestyle Check features and makes a review of the different gadgets available in the market while Sidetracked showcases videos taken from Youtube which can be funny most of the times. They really changed the face of reporting and news delivery.
Drag Me To Hell is a 2009 movie about Christine Brown portrayed by Alison Lohman. She has a good job, and a great boyfriend and a bright future not until a curse was put on her. It was directed by Sam Raimi who also created the movies such as The Ring and Spider Man series.

One day, an old lady named Sylvia Ganush played by Lorna Raver came to her asking her to give her another extension for her house. She consulted her boss however, the task of deciding was left to Brown. Because of the position she is aiming for, she decided not to give an extension. Mrs. Ganush got angry and put a curse through a button that belongs to Brown.
She went to a fortune teller and she was advsd that a lamia was put to her and for three days it will haunt her until she gets her soul. She tried to seek forgiveness from Mrs. Ganush however, the old lady already died. She was also advsd by the fortune teller to have an offering but it didn't work. Until she had known that the only way to stop the curse is to give the cursed item to someone else as a gift, thereby cursing him or her. She tried it however, she can't do it. So what she did was she went to the graveyard where Mrs. Ganush is buried. She put the envelope into the mouth of the old lady and she believed that she already beaten the curse.
After the incident, she met Clay Dalton played by Jason Long in the train station. Clay was about to proposed to her. It just so happen that when Clay got the envelope from his coat, it has the button on it. Brown became terrified of what she saw and fell to the stone track and before the train came, she was drag by horrible hands to hell. Clay just stared and froze at what he saw.
The title is not that inviting if you hear it. At first, I have no intention of watching it however, I gained interest when I saw the making of this movie in Studio 23 in Reel Deal. The scenes shown in the making are quite interesting. So I watched it just today and I was amazed with its plot. The effects are great which made me scream a bit. The twist of the ending also is great. I didn't imagine that the lead character would still die. I really like these kind of movies!
Eversince I've seen this teleserye at primetime, I could not help but to be glued and watch this show. This teleserye is based on the 1955 Spanish film "The Miracle Of Marcelino". This is "May Bukas Pa (There Is Still Tomorrow)".
It started airing in ABS-CBN last February 2, 2009. The story revolves around a little boy named Santino played by Zaijan Jaranilla. He was left one night in the graveyard when he was still a baby. He was handed over the priests of the monastery and this is where he live. One time, when Santino's friend became ill, he prayed and the Lord bestowed him to ability to heal and make miracles. Because of this event, Santino was hailed as "The Miracle Boy". Santino then called the Lord "Bro" affectionately.
The theme song with the same title which was sung by Erik Santos is also inspiring. Here is his performance in ASAP 09 together with a chorale and the cast.
Because of this teleserye, people start calling the Lord "Bro" as well. It is a hit every night for the values it teaches the audience. The guest appearance of different artists every week also is an addition that makes people glued to their television sets. This teleserye would like to impart to always follow what your heart desires and what makes you happy.
I never imagined when 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures launched the movie Titanic in 1997 that it would become a great hit. Now this is declared as the top grosser movie of all time with a whooping gross return of $600,788,188.
Titanic is the story of the fictional characters of Jack Dawson played by Leonardo DiCaprio and the young Rose DeWitt Bukater palyed by Kate Winslet. They are passengers of Titanic, an Olympic-class passenger liner that had its voyage and was hit by an iceberg on the night of April 14, 1912. The story began with a team of explorer led by Brock Lovett played by Bill Paxton tried to explore a treasure which is a necklace set with a valuable blue diamond called the Heart of the Ocean. They were unsuccessful and instead they found a drawing of of a young woman reclining nude, wearing the Heart of the Ocean, dated the day the Titanic sank. The One-hundred-and-one-year-old Rose Dawson Calvert played by Gloria Stuart learns about the drawing and she contacted Lovett and informed him that she is the lady in the drawing. She started telling her story and her experience in the sunken ship Titanic.
The OST entitled "My Heart Will Go On" was a hit and was sung non-other than Celine Dion.
When I saw the movie, I was amazed by the great production, the characters are at its finest clothes, which contributed to the success of the film. In addition, the love story between Jack and Rose, I must say is the core thing of the movie and what people watched for. The only question is, what film can replace Titanic on the top spot?
My Name Is Kim Sam Soon is a koreanovela previously aired by GMA Network. Good thing they had a rerun right now because the first time it was shown here in the Philippines, I have no time to watch it because of my schedule.
Kim Sam Soon was described as a fat lady, she even don't care on how she looks and she is straightforward. Her only dream to change her last name. Her best skill and passion would be baking. After her break-up with her ex-boyfriend, she landed a job as a patiesseur in a French restaurant where he met his arrogant boss named Hyun Jin-Heon. Hyun Jin-Heon offered Sam Soon to pretend his girlfriend in exchange of a big amount. Eventually, they became affectionate with each other. The conflict came when the other characters, which happened to be the people who had relationship with them and appealed to relived the relationship again. The end of the story was a happy one and the lead characters Kim Sam Soon and Hyun Jin-Heon lived together.
GMA Network also made a remake of this koreanovela last year. The Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez played Kim Sam Soon while Mark Anthony Fernandez played the role of Cyrus. It was shown as part of their primetime block.
What makes this koreanovela so inviting to watch eventhough it is only a rewind? For me, I would say that the lead characters have a good chemistry. The main concept which is food and the pastries baked by KIm Sam Soon are good as well. I think that eventhough, it will be aired over and over again, the viewers will still patronize it.
One Liter Of Tears (Iche Litre No Namida) is a Japanese telenovela being aired in GMA 7 in their primetime block. This is the story of Aya who suffered an incurable degenerative disease at 15.
Aya's disease was diagnosed as spinocerebellar ataxia, a condiiton characterized by slowly progressive incoordination of gait and often associated with poor coordination of hands, speech, and eye movements.
Honestly, I only watch this show every Mondays and Tuesdays because I'm off fromwork. What makes me stick to this? Maybe because the plot of the story is good, you would definitely follow the events as Aya comes nearer to her death. The drama is there to make the audience cry. The blossoming love between Aya nd Haruto is also an added thing which makes the story something to look forward to. Definitely, this one of the best Japanese telenovelas that I've seen.
It's not the original F4 but I must say they are making waves every night in every Filipino television. The show started airing late night Mondays through Fridays but due to insisted public demand, it was moved to an earlier slot at 6:00 P.M. Let's get to know more about the latest craze in town, The "Boys Over Flowers".
Boys Before Flowers (꽃보다 남자) is a Korean drama adaptation of the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango.
The plot is typically the same as the first two versions from Taiwan and Japan. Of course, there are the F4 who are the most prominent personalities in school, who were condsidered masters and makes the lives of the students miserable who are against their will. There is this girl who changed their lives.
Here are the lead characters of Boys Over Flowers:
Geum Jan Di is from a poor family with a fierce and weed-like determination. She first liked Ji Hoo, who was the only one who showed any compassion while she was bullied. Eventually Jun Pyo begins to fall in love with her, and as he expresses his feelings towards her, she gradually begins to reciprocate those feelings. Jan Di later is determined to pursue the medical industry after realizing she can't swim because of her shoulder.
Goo Jun Pyo is the hot-headed leader of F4. Exasperated by Jan Di's act of defiance, he makes her a target of bullying. But as time passes, he begins to admire Jan di's determination and will and falls in love with her. He is the heir of Shinhwa Group, and after his father [supposedly] passes away, he inherits and begins to run the Shinhwa Group along with his mother.
Yoon Ji Hoo is a calm and soft-spoken boy who likes to play the violin, piano and guitar and conduct an orchestra. Seo Hyeon was Ji Hoo's first love, after she helped him overcome trauma after the death of his parents when he was little. He attempts to fight for Seo Hyeon's love by following her to France. When he comes back, he has already realized that he had fallen for Jan Di. However, Jun Pyo has already announced his love of Jan Di. Ji Hoo decides not to betray his friend by trying to fight for Jan Di. He is a grandson of Korea's former president.
So Yi Jung is F4's perennial playboy. Handsome and gifted with a brilliant smile. Yi Jung also has a knack of sweets words that could make every girl fall for him. Even Geum Jan Di's friend, Chu Ga Eul could not escape his charming ways.He is from a family of well-known artists, and is a reputed potter himself. His family owns an art gallery that exhibits national treasures.
Song Woo Bin, from their origin in the underground, his family now runs a prominent construction business. The family owns real estate throughout the country....he is also the very good friend of yi jung and a kind hearted person even though he is known as a Casanova himself.
At first, I thought that this is just the same story plot as the original from Taiwan. However, I was wrong, this is much more exciting, the characters are good as well as the dubbing style. I must say this is the best F4 version I've seen!
How can you say that a person is shopaholic? How does it start? What are the symptoms? Is it determined by the items that a person purchases? Or how often a person spend on items? Or by the brands that he/she buys from a particular outlet? Is being a shopaholic the same as impulsive buyer? Is it a mind disorder? If it is, is there a cure?
We can't deny the fact that all of us wants to shop (who would deny???). Given the chance that we have money to spend of course, we will grab the opportunity to purchase items that would satisfy our cravings. From clothes to foods to places, even small accessories for our bodies, name it we will spend it for as long as we have a strong purchasing power. These questions came to my mind after watching the film entitled "Confessions Of A Shopaholic".
The story revolves on Rebecca Bloomweed which is played by Isla Fisher who is a self-confessed shopaholic. A woman who wouldn't mind spending for as long as she gets what she wants. The setting is in Manhattan. She dreamed of being a writer for fashion magazine Alette, however, she became a columnist of a financial magazine Successful Savings under the supervision of Luke Brandon played by Hugh Dancy. She became well-known because of her article "The Girl On The Green Scarf" but she lost her job in Successful Savings when Derek Smeath, the antagonist showed up on her TV appearance and disclosed all of her unpaid debts. In the end, she made a way to cure her addiction and eventually Luke and Rebecca came together in the end.
The movie is good and funny. It showed the history on how Rebecca acquired this attitude and how she fought it. A lot of lessons can be learned like thinking first before doing such an act. I've also learned that "COST AND WORTH ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS" and I hope that this is guide us everytime we shop for items.
This telerserye talks about power, deception, revenge, brotherhood and most of all, love. This is the second teleserye of Kim Chiu (Audrey King) and Gerald Anderson (David "JR" Garcia) with the addition of Jake Cuenca (David "Dave" Garcia) as the lead characters.
At first, I thought that this is just another soap for Kim and Gerald because it's not that I don't like them it's just I feel that there are better love teams who can be on that teleserye. However, I was amazed by the plot of the story. Plus, the addition of some of the finest actors and actresses in the industry made every scene an intense one. I must say that Kim and Gerlad are also a notch higher when it comes to acting. This made me stayed in front of the television before going to sleep because every scene is important and if you miss one, it's a loss.
The theme song was sang originally by Rey Valera but Gary Valenciano did a remake of the song for this teleserye.
It also a citation from the Armed Forces Of The Philippines for promoting the positive image of the the Philippine armed forces. Because of this, Great job, ABS-CBN for always bringing top quality teleseryes!!!
Angels & Demons is a 2009 film based on the best-selling novel by Dan Brown with the same title. I got the chance to watch this film yesterday and I'm so amazed with the plot of the film.
It started in narration about the passing of the pope in Rome. The Vatican staff prepares for the Conclave of the College of Cardinals, which will select the next Pope. Until the Conclave selects a new Pope, the Camerlengo (Ewan McGregor) assumes day-to-day control of the Vatican. Reporters, nuns, priests and other faithful all crowd into St. Peter's Square, waiting for the white smoke from the Conclave. But the Illuminati, a 400-year old, underground secret society, kidnaps the four most likely candidates (preferratti) before the Conclave goes into seclusion. The Illuminati threatens to kill them at 8, 9, 10 and 11 PM, and then destroy the Vatican in a burst of light at midnight. A video feed shows the missing anti-matter vial, which will destroy the Vatican and parts of nearby Rome when the magnetic containment field fails.
The Vatican summoned Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and Dr. Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer) from CERN to help them solved the Illuminati's threat. One by one they with the help of clues, they were able to solved the mystery and stopped the danger that is on its way.
What I like in this film is the incorporation of the elements (Earth, Wind, Fire and Water) and how these elements were present in the death or near death experience of the four cardinals. The action and suspense is there. There is also a twist in the end that you should see. But of course, I still need to read the book to compare which is better. As far as the plot of the movie, I must say that Director Ron Howard made an excellent job.
I've created a new blog thread that will feature movies and television shows and my personal reviews. Movies that I've watched and about to be watched, name it it will be posted here. Feel fee to dropped by and share your thoughts!
